Patricia Collins Wrede was born in Illinois in 1953. She is the author of Mairelon the Magician and The Magician’s Ward, the books for which this fan site was created. Ms. Wrede, with Caroline Stevermer, has also published two other Regency fantasies set in a world similar to the one portrayed in the Mairelon books; these are Sorcery and Cecelia and The Grand Tour. Ms. Wrede and Ms. Stevermer are currently working on a sequel to The Grand Tour.
Ms. Wrede has written many other fantasy books besides her Regency fantasies; these include The Enchanted Forest Chronicles and the Lyra series. She also has written novelizations of the Star Wars movies.
